Dear friends, it’s a rainy day in the neighborhood, and we hope you’re having a peppy President’s Day. We’ll be closed for business today. We hope to see you on Tuesday, February 16 as we open with some good, old fashioned southern cooking guaranteed to fill your bellies and warm your hearts. Hope to see you then!
What We’re Cooking for You Next Week
Foodie Krewe Magic and Mayhem Party, Friday 26, 2016 with great food like gumbo and crawfish stuffed mirliton squash. Reservations needed, and details will follow tomorrow!
Monday, February 15
Closed today to celebrate the POTUS (how do you make that plural)! George Washington philosophically noted, “It is impossible to reason without arriving at a Supreme Bean.” Apparently, he loved his beans like he loved hoe cakes (pancakes made with cornbread), mashed sweet potatoes, steak and kidney pie, and fish muddle (whatever that is). Of course, Martha’s Whiskey Cake found its way to the table often, as did port and dark ales. We’ll have a look at more presidential favorite foods this week!
Tuesday, February 16 — Papa Stone’s Birthday!
Fried pork chops, mama’s rice, and roasted broccoli.
Wednesday, February 17
Beef burgundy, potatoes, carrots, and rice.
Thursday, February 18
Special house-made meat lasagna with fresh pasta.
Friday, February 19
Shrimptastic Friday: Barbecued shrimp stuffed po-boys, open-faced fried green tomato and barbecued shrimp on our house bread with remoulade sauce, or the full fried green tomato and barbecued shrimp po-boy with remoulade sauce.

Famous Food Quotes
Sometime in 1990 President George H. W. Bush banned broccoli from Air Force One saying, “I do not like broccoli. And I haven’t liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I’m President of the United States and I’m not going to eat any more broccoli.” Well, he probably won’t eat the fried pork chops this week as the veggie side is that rascal broccoli.
